(Please describe where you were and what you were doing when the earthquake hit Nepal on 25 April 2015?)
I was in my own room watching the movie Ten Commandments.

(Please describe your immediate mental and physical reaction, and your response following the quake.
I was scared; my bed was moving left and right. My books were falling down from the self. I covered my head with a pillow and remained like a statue. When it stopped, I quickly went out to the open ground.

(What were your most important concerns at that time?)
I was worried whether my family members were safe or not.

(What types of information were you looking for at that time? Did you have access to all the information you needed?)
First of all. I tried to call my mom in the village. The electricity was gone, the internet was still working. I listened to Radio Nepal news about the earthquake.

(How helpful were news media such as radio, television, newspapers, online news portals, etc in informing you immediately after the quake and the days following it? Please note their strengths as well as weaknesses).
The role of media was very good during the earthquake. especially I am so thankful to Radio Nepal who gave 24 hours news. The role of Indian media was not good during that time. Indian media aired news without editing and they exaggerated the facts.

(Please describe how you spent the week following the quake– what you did, etc.).
I spent the weeek watching movies. I almost watched all the movies that I had collected.

(Any memorable facts or incidents during the week following the quake?)
All the people were living in tents. We ate together, slept there. There was no sense of privacy. Almost everything was public.

(What are some of the lessons that we should take away from the 25 April 2015 quake in Nepal?)
We should build earthquake-proof structures. Earthquake itself doesn’t kill people, it is our weak buildings that kill us. So, from now onwards, we shoul think about it.
